Holiday Rental Apartment or Villa on the Costa Brava, Spain

The Costa Brava is one of the most beautiful areas of Catalonia and possibly even in the whole of Spain for a holiday rental apartment or villa. Its coast is lapped by the blue waters of the Mediterranean and its interior overlooked by the magnificent and impressive Pyrenees mountain range. The Costa Brava (meaning Wild Coast), as well as being a fantastic place for holiday villas or apartments in Spain to hire, is also an ideal base from which to explore the many delights of Catalonia.

Although most holidaymakers book holiday villas or apartments in Spain to hire on the Costa Brava for a relaxing holiday of sun and sea there are however many points of cultural interest on this coast. These include, Cadaques, a little fishing village on the coast where Salvador Dali lived for many years. The Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres is worth a visit for those who love the surrealist artists and while you are there why not try some tapas in a local restaurant. Girona, one of Catalonia's oldest cities, is also worth a visit. It is a walled city of Roman origin and located at a strategic point between the Pyrenees and Barcelona. The city has a Cathedral and an ancient Jewish quarter and most visitors gravitate to the east side in the old medieval part of the city. After a busy day sight-seeing you will be glad to return to your holiday rental apartment for a siesta!

Another one of the must-see places for visitors who book a self-catering holiday rental apartment on the Costa Brava is the Cap de Creus Natural Park which was designated as a nature reserve in 1998.  The reserve extends from Port de la Selva to Roses, and most of the land surrounding Canyelles Petites. Much of the fauna and flora are uncommon or unique, and the area is a haven for walkers and bird-watchers.  A lot of visitors who book a holiday letting in Spain try the Roses Expres which is a ‘dotto’ type road-train with two carriages which is pulled by a tractor- style engine.  There are various excursions but the longest trip takes you past the hillside of Puig Rom (good views of Canyelles Petites), L'Almadraba, Cala Montjoi and onwards into the Cap de Creus Natural Park.

If you have booked your own self-catering holiday rental apartment, you may well have also booked a hire-car. Visitors who are looking for a great place to drive should explore the coastal road heading north from Lloret de Mar to Sant Feliu and Platja d'Aro (famous for its designer shops). The winding stretch between Tossa de Mar and Sant Feliu is considered to be one of the most beautiful coastal routes in Spain. The road (GI-682) has plenty of parking and picnic areas if you want to take a break and enjoy the view.

Families who book holiday villas or apartments in Spain to hire in this area often visit Europe's biggest water park which is located just outside Lloret de Mar and the Marine land complex near Blanes.  It is a wonderful day out and is popular with holidaymakers who have booked a holiday rental apartment and local people alike.

If you are tempted by the Costa Brava why not try booking a holiday rental apartment or a villa holiday letting in Spain direct with the private owners. Many holidaymakers find that a self-catering holiday letting in Spain suits them better than a cramped hotel room they could get for the same price. All you need to do is search on-line for a website which lists holiday properties for rent. Try it - it could be the holiday you have always dreamed about!
