Villas to Rent in Ibiza Spain – a Superb Destination for All

Running a website that offers villas to rent in Ibiza Spain and throughout Spain, including the Canary Islands and the Balearics, we have recently been asked where is the most popular or favourite island in the Balearics?  Well!!  First of all the Balearic Islands belongs to Spain and comprise four well-known Islands - Formentera, Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca. So what is the most popular Island for villas and apartments in Spain for rental? Well it is difficult to quantify and we have owners with villas and apartments on all the islands. If you are talking about the number of visitors then Mallorca is the most chosen for family Spanish apartments to rent. However if you judge it on the number of holidaymakers under the age of 26 then Ibiza comes into its own and the other two islands are special and popular in their own way.

IBIZA’S REPUTATION

This article is going to concentrate on villas to rent in Ibiza Spain. Ibiza tends to be synonymous with youth night life, discos, booze etc. and of course became a major centre of touristic attraction during the 1960s, being then famous for its "Hippie-Culture" and nudist beaches. They still attract the young ones who are unquestionably attracted by the island's rollicking nightlife, which starts in the afternoon at the beaches and in the centre of town, to continue until dawn in the numerous discotheques.

A SUPERB DESTINATION FOR ALL

Today however the real Ibiza is becoming known for a lot more than its reveling past and now attracts families and older visitors looking for villas to rent in Ibiza Spain and even the golfer fraternity book Spanish apartments to rent in Ibiza, where they can visit the two main golf courses of Ibiza Golf Club 18 hole and Club de Golf Roca Llisa, a 9 hole.

IBIZA’S CLIMATE

Geographically Ibiza is the closest to the mainland and is the second most southerly island next to Formentera. Its climate is probably the main reason for booking Spanish apartments to rent. Ibiza almost certainly gets the best weather of the Balearic islands, albeit there is little in it.  However at the time of writing this article (5th of February) it was a very pleasant 19°C, although the average is closer to 12 - 14 °C for this time of the year. It is still a very pleasant temperature for those who want to get away from the cold dreary dank days in the north of Europe! The summer does bring quite high temperatures averaging 26°C and it can be a long summer stretching into early October when villas to rent in Ibiza Spain remain popular bookings.

TRAVEL AND TRANSPORT

For those of you with vehicles and a love of the open road, before you look at the villas and apartments in Spain for rental, you should know that the only way that you can bring your beloved wheels to Ibiza and arrive safely at your holiday home is on one of the ferries from the mainland. The travel times vary from ferry company to ferry company - some companies have the super-fast ferries but I always feel if you are in that much of a hurry you would fly. Other things that can affect your ferry time are where you travel from in Spain and whether you have pre-booked etc. all this will affect your travel time.

FLIGHTS

There are a host of airlines to choose from and are available all year round. The fares vary and are the highest in summer which is hardly surprising, considering that Ibiza has traditionally been considered a summer time destination. However during the winter the flights are still popular and have been first choice for many years with the retirees and Spaniards visiting family, and business-commuting continues throughout the season.

IBIZA CAR HIRE COMPANIES

There is a selection of car hire companies on the island offering cars at prices to suit every pocket and this is possibly the most convenient way to get to your villas to rent in Ibiza Spain.

BUSES

The island can boast an extensive and regular Bus service. There are half-hour connections between all major resorts, including many of the most popular beaches. Buses run in the summer months from approximately 7 am until 10 pm. The disco bus then takes over from midnight until 6 am, taking clubbers to and from all the major clubs and resorts. The buses are air-conditioned and an extremely economical form of transport. Ask the owners of the villas and apartments in Spain for rental before booking for more details.

TAXIS

For families travelling, taxis are a comfortable and relatively economical way to travel. You can flag a taxi down at any time of night and day if the green light is showing.

ACCOMMODATION

Naturally as we are a website specialising in villas to rent in Ibiza Spain direct from the owners (commission free), we would recommend you book a property from one of the owners. Not least because you are able to talk to someone who knows the Island inside out, and who can answer your queries and give you all sorts of tips. But the most important thing is to visit this lovely Island and Holiday-Villa-Select can definitely recommend it!
