Apartments for Rent in Lanzarote for a Relaxing Winter Break in the Sun
As a website operator advertising privately owned villas and apartments, including apartments for rent in Lanzarote, we are sometimes asked what makes for a relaxing holiday. Well the words 'beach holidays Spain' would certainly rank high on the list! We are also asked what part of Europe we would recommend, well no surprise on that one, Spain! Incredibly Spain still dominates both the summer and winter holidaying market, but ‘where in Spain?’ I hear you say. Well that’s a difficult one and depends on what time of the year of course, but as this article is about apartments for rent in Lanzarote it will be no surprise that Lanzarote is one of my favourites and is an ideal location for a relaxing winter break in the sun.
So why is it one of my favourites? Well firstly Lanzarote is the most easterly of the Canary Islands and is situated just 60 Km off the mainland of Africa. Owing to its geographical position it truly benefits from temperatures well into the mid-20’s Centigrade even in the depths of winter. There is nothing wrong with cheap holiday villas for rental Spain in the other Canary Islands like Tenerife and Gran Canaria but villas and apartments for rent in Lanzarote will give you a different type of holiday as the island still retains much of its Canarian culture.
Lanzarote does not come with the Tenerife, Ibiza, Benidorm baggage i.e. stack it high, then book cheap holiday villas for rental Spain, although should be said for the record that all these three locations have transformed beyond recognition over the last ten years. Lanzarote however has always been a superb, relaxing holiday destination and very popular with thousands of northern European holidaymakers who choose to book apartments for rent in Lanzarote every year.
Probably the best known location in Lanzarote is Puerto del Carmen. It is not only recognized as one of the most well-liked places to stay in Lanzarote but has a lot of holiday rental apartments within both the New Town and Old Town. It’s fair to say the New Town has an abundance of restaurants, lively clubs, bars, shops, hotels and cheap holiday villas for rental Spain accommodation. In comparison the Old Town is quieter with some exceptional restaurants where you can dine al fresco and get great views of the harbour before retiring to your apartment or villa rental in Lanzarote.
Beach holidays Spain Lanzarote are also popular in the up-market resort of Playa Blanca. Without doubt the local designer Cesar Manrique has had a big influence on the skyline of Lanzarote as there is a distinct lack of high-rise buildings. Cesar Manrique was determined that building developments on the island would be ecologically sound and the subsequent outlawing of advertising hoardings and high-rise hotels and apartment buildings was a blessing for Lanzarote.
So what does make for a relaxing holiday? We have already mentioned that beach holidays Spain rental in Lanzarote would make for a relaxing holiday, but would it be better to have a privately booked luxury apartment or a hotel? Well for sure if you want a quiet holiday, which normally means a relaxing holiday, then keep away from the hotels with fixed eating times and potentially noisy neighbours. You need the flexibility and the freedom to come and go as you please this can only come from booking your own apartments for rent in Lanzarote.
However there can be a problem when the adults want a relaxing holiday but the kids want entertainment. Well there are two huge theme parks near the two main resorts. In Costa Teguise there is a family-friendly Aqua Park, which is ideal for a family day out and just outside Puerto del Carmen is Rancho Texas Park, an adventure park with family rides. Not exactly relaxing for the adults but you can chill out when the kids are in bed and you can relax around the pool of your apartments for rent in Lanzarote. Oh! And don’t forget, to totally relax why not try a glass of the local vino!
