Why not holiday in villa rentals in Spain’s exotic Canary Islands this winter?
Villa rentals in Spain, Canary Islands, especially Tenerife, are still one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. This island certainly comes into its own during the autumn and winter months. The local authorities have recognised, for a long time, that holiday rentals in Spain’s Tenerife were not always attracting the right type of holiday in Spain villa bookings. So in recent years the authority has invested a lot of money to improve the Canary Islands and, over the last few years, have added upmarket resorts and marinas. Furthermore substantial financial outlays have been placed in holiday in Spain villa’s golf tourism, which brings in many people to the archipelago during the winter and autumn months.
The islands have undergone a dramatic transformation from the cheap package holiday resorts to a location for the discerning traveller who is looking for upmarket villa rentals in Spain in the Canary Islands. For the last three decades the Canaries have been popular with British tourists seeking cheap winter sun. Unfortunately with mass popularity came mass construction of hotels, which were often built quickly and cheaply and started to give many resorts a bad name as well as the feel of a concrete jungle. Of course back then renting a holiday in Spain villa in the Canary Islands from the owners direct was not widely available.
Tenerife has probably undergone the most impressive transformation from a popular mass tourist holiday hotspot to an exclusive lifestyle destination, where villa rentals in Spain and self catering apartments are much in demand and, with the current economic climate, the middle of the road hotels have been closing down to carry out upmarket refurbishments. At the bottom end of the market ugly concrete buildings that were once constructed in record time to accommodate the 70s, 80s and even 90s tourist boom in the package holiday build programme are now being pulled down; replaced by more appropriate and attractive architecture which would gratify private owners of villa rentals in Spain.
As all authorities and in particular the hotel and accommodation providers realise that the “stack it high; sell it cheep” package holidays are on their way out, the small privately owned apartments and villa owners who make their properties available for rental between their own use are much in demand. Quite simply their properties are a lot nicer and present much better value and therefore are a lot more appealing to the modern internet savvy holiday makers who are now more interested in luxury villa rentals in Spain in the Canaries rather than cheap package holidays. These internet-savvy holiday makers can put together their own self-catering package for holiday rentals in Spain’s Tenerife.
Tenerife is not the only island to undergo these changes. It has also happened with holiday rentals in Spain’s Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote, which is in the process of getting a facelift. The multi-million Euro project is to transform the resort with the introduction of a modern marina, with moorings for luxury yachts, and the opening of a new Lanzarote Golf Resort - Puerto del Carmen, which means privately owned apartment and villa rentals in Spain – Lanzarote are also in demand more than ever. The new golf course is only the second on the island. Bars, shops and restaurants along the beach front have and are receiving a further facelift to bring them up-to-date to fulfil the requirements of the more up market tourist.
