3 kilometres from the centre of town, is Nerjas

The caves are deemed to be of great archaeological
significance and have also been made an official historical
and artistic monument. Some of these caverns date back
some 5 million years and the caves are renowned for
their large stalactites and stalagmites as well as their
Palaeolithic wall paintings. In fact, musical concerts
are also organised and performed in this magnificent
venue where the acoustics must be absolutely fabulous.
These caves are open between the months of July and
August every day from 10:00 till 14:00 and from 16:00
to 20:00 however during September to June the caves
are open daily from 10:00-14:00 and from 16:00 to 1830
Wander
along the Wondrous Walks in the Almijara Mountains

be on the sea shore, is in fact bordered by the spectacular
Sierra Almijara Mountain range which extends between the
area near Nerja and to the north to the town of Alhama
